**The pleasure of fishing, at the edge of Medgidia**
# **Canalul Vechi Medgidia**
Canalul Vechi lake is a long and straight water, of about 1.1 km, at the edge of the municipality of Medgidia, in Constanța county. It is an old canal, parallel to the Danube-Black Sea Canal, from which it receives water through connecting channels with sluices, and it was dredged to depths between 2 and 8 meters. It has about 13 hectares of water surface and approximately 110 m from one bank to the other, and beyond the south bank a hill rises. In the lake, common carp and mirror carp, grass carp, bighead carp, silver carp and crucian carp are caught, and the regulations also mention pike, catfish and zander. Carp and young carp are released on the spot, without being kept in a keepnet; pike, catfish and zander can be retained between 2 and 4 kg. Stands are numbered wooden pontoons, on both banks, each with a gazebo with a grill, and the car is parked next to the stand. For 24-hour sessions, the lake has fully equipped wooden cabins. There are ecological toilets and places for tents and caravans, and the lake has permanent security and 24-hour video surveillance. The entrance is next to the „Iftimie Ilisei” Sports Hall, about one kilometer from the entrance to Medgidia.
