Question 1

How do I book a lake on LakeBooking?

Accepted Answer

Search by place or on the map, filter by species, amenities, fishing type, catch policy or price, and pick the lake and package that suit you. On the lake page, choose your dates, the session length and check-in time, then your swims, add any extras, and pay the 10% booking fee by card. Many lakes confirm each booking by hand, so yours may wait a little for the host; lakes with instant booking confirm it straight away. Your booking ticket has everything you need at the gate.

Question 2

What does a booking actually cost?

Accepted Answer

You pay a 10% booking fee online to secure your booking, then pay the remaining balance directly to the host when you arrive at the lake, in cash or on their POS. The booking fee counts toward the total booking value. It isn't an extra charge. The full breakdown is shown at checkout before you confirm.

Question 3

Can I cancel my booking and get a refund?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Cancel a lake session more than 48 hours before check-in and your booking fee is refunded in full; cancel later, or don't turn up, and it isn't refunded. If the host cancels, the fee is refunded in full. You pay the remaining balance only at the lake, so you owe none of it when you cancel more than 48 hours ahead. A lake can charge a no-show fee only if its listing says so before you book, and any cancellation terms the host shows at checkout cover the remaining balance, never the booking fee. Your booking shows the exact free-cancellation deadline, and the cancel dialog tells you the outcome before you confirm. Fishing experiences follow their host's cancellation window instead. The Refund Policy covers every case.

Question 4

The lake wasn't what was advertised. What do I do?

Accepted Answer

Open the booking and message the host from the gate, saying what's wrong, and take photos. The message timestamps the problem. Talk to the host first, since most issues are resolved on the spot (a different swim, an on-the-day refund, a rebook). If it isn't resolved within 6 working hours, escalate to LakeBooking; we mediate using the message thread, the lake's listing, and your evidence, and aim to close within 5 working days.

Question 5

Can I bring extra rods, friends, or a non-fishing guest?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the package. Each host sets, per package, how many extra anglers, rods, or non-fishing guests are allowed, and what each extra costs. You'll see the options on the booking screen, and the total updates as you add them. If your party is bigger than one swim allows, add another swim to the same booking.

Question 6

How are hosts and anglers verified?

Accepted Answer

A lake shows the "Verified" badge once our team has reviewed and approved it, after its setup is complete, and the host who runs it shows the same badge on their fishing experiences. Some listings we add ourselves so anglers can find those lakes, and those show as unclaimed until their operator takes them over. Anglers verify their email address before they can book.

Question 7

I own a lake. How do I list it, and what does it cost?

Accepted Answer

Listing is free. There's no monthly fee, no listing fee, no premium tier. Sign up as a host, follow the setup checklist (lake profile, swims, packages and prices, rules, and your tax details), and turn on bookings. Once your setup is complete you can ask for the Verified badge, which our team reviews in about 48 working hours. LakeBooking retains the 10% booking fee anglers pay online as its commission. That's how the platform sustains itself. The Host Agreement spells this out.

Question 8

As a host, when and how do I get paid?

Accepted Answer

You collect the remaining balance (90% of the booking total) directly from the angler at the lake on arrival, in cash or on your own POS, exactly as you would for a walk-in angler. There's no payout setup, no waiting period, and nothing for the platform to transfer to your IBAN in our current model. Full online payments via Stripe Connect (with optional all-online settlement to your account) will be added in 2027.

Question 9

Can I transfer my lake to another owner?

Accepted Answer

Yes. From your lake's Settings page you can request to transfer the lake, together with everything attached to it (swims, packages, photos, calendar, and existing bookings), to another person. They must already have a registered LakeBooking account with a verified email address. Our team reviews the request, and the new owner has to accept it before anything changes. Once they accept, the lake moves to them, new bookings are paused, and the lake loses its Verified badge until the new owner asks for verification again; existing bookings carry over and become the new owner's responsibility. You are notified at each step and can cancel the request any time before it completes. The full terms are in the Host Agreement.

Question 10

Which lakes are listed on LakeBooking and where?

Accepted Answer

Search by place or on the map to see the lakes near you, and which of them you can book for your dates. We launched on 1 August 2026, in English and Romanian, and new lakes join every week. If you don't see a lake you like, sign up to the newsletter and we'll let you know when new ones come online.

Question 11

Is my payment information safe?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Card payments are processed by Stripe, a PCI-DSS Level 1 provider. Your card details never touch LakeBooking servers, they go directly to Stripe in encrypted form. Your bank may ask you to confirm the payment with 3D Secure (its app or an SMS code). LakeBooking S.R.L. is also fully compliant with GDPR 2016/679, see the Privacy Policy for what we collect, why, and your rights.

Question 12

How do I report content that is illegal or breaks the rules?

Accepted Answer

Use the Report link next to it, which you'll find on a lake listing, a fishing experience, a review, a catch and its photos, or a message you received. You can also use the report form, open to anyone, with or without an account. We ask for your name and email so we can confirm your report and tell you what we decided; you can report anonymously only when the content shows child sexual abuse or a child in danger, or intimate images shared without consent. A person on our team reviews every report. When we remove or restrict someone's content, we tell them why, and they can ask us to review the decision within six months.
