How LakeBooking works

A short orientation to the platform — what it is, who it's for, and where to go next.

LakeBooking is a two-sided platform for fishing lakes. Hosts — the people who own or run the lakes — list their swims, set their rules, and manage their calendar. Anglers search, compare, and book a session at a real lake without making a single phone call. That's the whole platform in two sentences.

This support hub is split into three sections, mirrored in the sidebar on the left:

  • Getting Started — the page you're on now, plus quick-start guides and a glossary of the words we use.
  • For Anglers — how to find a lake, pay, arrive, and review a session.
  • For Hosts — how to verify your business, build a listing, manage your calendar, and get paid.

The 60-second mental model

There are three concepts that show up everywhere on the platform. If you know what these mean, you can read any other page without losing the plot:

  • Swim — one bookable spot on a lake. A 4-hectare carp lake might have 12 swims; each one is rented to one party at a time. We use the British angling word "swim" rather than "peg" or "spot" because it's the one that travels best across our markets.
  • Billing unit — the time block a host charges by. Typical billing units are 12h day-tickets, 24h overnighters, 60h weekends, and 168h carp weeks. A swim can have several billing units configured side-by-side; you pick the one that matches your session.
  • Booking fee / remaining balance — the total booking value splits into two parts. The booking fee (a flat 10%) is paid online at checkout to secure your booking. The remaining balance (90%) is paid directly to the host when you arrive at the lake. The fee counts toward the total — it isn't an extra charge.

A full glossary lives on the Glossary page.

Choose your path

Pick the quick-start that matches what you're doing today. Each one is a single page, ten minutes at most:

I want to book a session (angler)I want to list my lake (host)

What this hub does not cover

This is the how it works documentation — process and concepts, not legal text. For the legal side of each topic, you want:

If a support page and a legal page contradict each other, the legal page wins. We try very hard to keep them in step.
