Lacul Iannis

Lacul Iannis is an artificial lake with a symmetrical rectangular shape, designed to offer equal chances to anglers both in terms of depths and structures, as well as in terms of fishing distances. As for fish density, Iannis was a carpodrome in its first years of activity. Carpodromes are overpopulated lakes. Being dug from scratch, the lake could not initially provide natural food for the large carp population, and the fish were fed with pellets, which helped them grow. Gradually, as the carp grew in size, the carp density was reduced to favor the development of large carp, the lake formed its own ecosystem with natural food sources, anglers contributed to feeding the fish with the bait used, and the feeding program was reduced in volume. The decrease in fish density and the pressure created by anglers have made the fish harder to catch. At the moment, we consider the lake to have a medium degree of difficulty. As on any other lake, fishing is strongly influenced by weather factors – for example, days with strong wind can be more productive in certain periods of the season than days without wind. If fishing by casting, we recommend anglers to approach the area located from 110m to 125m distance from the bank, where one can fish precisely on a bed of bait fed constantly. Frequent and precise baiting is an essential factor, which can make the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful session. Using pellets both for baiting and on the hook can be beneficial, especially in periods when the carp are lethargic. In the cold periods of the season, when the water temperature drops below 12-14 degrees, the deep water area of the lake, located 40-90m from the bank, often produces the largest carp.
