Why LakeBooking exists

If you've ever spent an evening calling six lakes to ask whether swim 4 is free on Saturday, you know the problem we set out to solve.

Across Romania and the wider European market, the best fishing lakes are run by passionate small operators — families, retired anglers, conservation-minded carp specialists. They keep meticulous notes, know every fish in the lake by reputation, and would much rather be feeding the swans than answering DMs. We built LakeBooking.com to give them back their weekends, and to give anglers a single, transparent place to book a session.

What we do

LakeBooking is a two-sided platform that connects anglers with lake owners (we call them hosts). Hosts list their lakes, define their swims, and configure flexible packages — bundles of swims, billing units, accommodation, equipment rentals, seasonal pricing, and promotional discounts. From a simple 4-hour day-ticket to a fully-equipped 168-hour carp week with cabin and rod rental, packages let hosts model exactly how their lake is sold.

Anglers search by region, target species, distance, price, or amenities, see real-time availability, and book the package they want in under two minutes. No phone calls, no bank transfers, no surprises at the gate.

How the payments work

For every booking, the angler pays a booking fee online (a flat 10% of the total) to secure the booking, and pays the remaining balance directly to the host at the lake on arrival. The booking fee counts toward the total booking value — anglers don't pay anything extra.

The booking fee is what funds the platform. Behind the scenes, LakeBooking retains it as its commission, under the Host Agreement every host accepts at signup. We don't take cuts on bait, tackle, accommodation, or any on-site service the host sells. We don't run "preferred placement" auctions. Search ranking is driven by relevance, distance, and verified reviews — not by who paid the most this quarter.

Built in Romania, designed for the region

LakeBooking is operated by LakeBooking S.R.L. (CUI 55420249, Trade Register no. J2026049620005), a Romanian company headquartered in Bucharest, with full compliance to GDPR 2016/679 and Romanian fiscal law (RO e-Factura, ANAF reporting). The platform is bilingual today (English, Romanian) and we're actively localising for the rest of Europe next.

Our principles

• Honest pricing. Total booking value is shown before checkout — what you pay online today, what you pay at the lake, and any extras a package includes.
• Hosts keep ownership. Hosts control their pricing, calendars, rules, and who fishes their water. We never resell their availability to third-party brokers.
• Quiet by design. No countdown timers, no manipulative urgency banners, no notifications selling you something while you're trying to fish.
• Respect for the water. We work with hosts who care about their fish and their guests. House rules are visible on every listing — anglers know what they're agreeing to before they book.
