Balta Gruiu

Balta Gruiu is a sport fishing complex on the Bucharest-Oltenița road, in the village of Gruiu in Călărași county, about 35 km from Bucharest. It has two neighboring waters, separated by a dam: Lake 1 is a narrow and winding basin of approximately 3.7 hectares, with the opposite bank at 45 to 55 meters, and Lake 2 opens into a basin of approximately 2.6 hectares, with 75 to 85 meters of water in front. On both, fishing is done exclusively in a catch and release system. The house fish is carp, common and mirror, and the lakes were restocked in 2025 with carp, grass carp, perch and crucian carp. The catches published by the administration show thick common carp, over ten kilograms, caught on both waters. Anglers stay in cabins on the bank: twenty cabins of 49 square meters, each with a bedroom, bathroom with shower, refrigerator, television, heated floor and its own fishing pontoon, which can be reached by car. The complex has free private parking, permanent security and surveillance cameras, and pets are accepted. Food can be ordered at the complex gate or can be prepared on the electric grill rented from the administration.
