About fishing in Călărași
Fishing in Călărași county means the Danube and the Borcea branch, the Mostiștea, Gălățui and Iezer lakes, and the managed carp fisheries between Lehliu, Dragalina and Oltenița.
This is one of the strongest carp and catfish counties in Romania, which is why managed fisheries are so thick on the ground here. Borcea and the Danube give big catfish, asp and wild carp, fished from the bank and from the boat. Mostiștea is a long lake with plenty of bays, good for carp and for predators. Towards Oltenița and Budești, the Argeș floodplain adds smaller but reliable water.
May to October is the season, and through July and August the fishing moves almost entirely to the night. It is under two hours from Bucharest, which makes it a natural weekend trip with a bivvy on the swim.
