About fishing in Sibiu
The Olt, where it leaves the gorge, is the most generous water in Sibiu, while the Cibin, the Hârtibaciu and the ponds along its valley, Brădeni included, carry the fishing up into the hills.
On the Olt between Avrig and Tălmaciu you take carp, crucian carp, chub and predators on the slower stretches. The Hârtibaciu ponds are quiet reedy stillwaters holding carp. The Cibin, dropping off the Cindrel range, is cold and quick with trout above Sibiu, and the Sadu adds its own reservoirs. The managed fisheries cluster around Sibiu and Mediaș.
May to October is the window. In autumn the Olt clears and fishes very well for predators, while the mountain water has a short season and needs a permit.
