About fishing in Ialomița
The Ialomița stretch of the Bărăgan holds wide, shallow water that warms fast and grows good fish: Strachina, Fundata and Amara, plus the Borcea branch and the Danube at Fetești.
Strachina is the best known of the lakes, with the Dridu area filling out the list. On the Borcea and the Danube at Fetești and Bordușani you fish for catfish, wild carp and asp, with solid banks and access straight off the Constanța road. Managed fisheries are spread the length of the Ialomița valley, from Urziceni down to Țăndărei.
The season runs April to October, and through July and August the fishing moves to the night. The plain wind is relentless, so a sheltered swim earns its keep on a gusty day.
