About fishing in Iași
The Moldova around Iași is pond country, many of them centuries old: Ciric and Chirița on the city's edge, then the bigger ones at Podu Iloaiei, Tansa and Sârca, plus the river Prut.
Ciric and Chirița are fifteen minutes from the centre and made for a short session. Towards Podu Iloaiei, Hârlău and Târgu Frumos the bigger ponds open up, with carp, crucian carp, bream and pike, many of them now managed for sport fishing. The Prut along the eastern edge is public water holding predators and silver fish, with restricted access on some border stretches.
April to October is the working season. The small ponds warm quickly, so summer fishes best at first light and last, and autumn belongs to the predators.
