About fishing in Romania
Romania has every kind of water at once: carp lakes on the Danube plain, big reservoirs on the Olt, Bistrița and Someș, trout streams in the Carpathians, the Danube Delta and the Black Sea coast.
Every county fishes differently. In the south and east, managed carp lakes and the Danube branches dominate, with carp, crucian carp, grass carp and catfish. Transylvania and Moldova hold reservoirs and lowland ponds that fish well for pike, zander and perch. In the mountains, fast water means trout and grayling, and a far shorter season.
Pick a county below to see the lakes you can book there, with swims, facilities and prices in the open. Managed fisheries usually work by the swim and take bookings in advance. On public water, including the Danube Delta, you also need a recreational fishing permit issued by ANPA.
