About fishing in Giurgiu
Fishing in Giurgiu county means the Danube, the Comana and Mihăilești lakes, and the densest run of carp fisheries anywhere near Bucharest, out towards Bolintin, Ogrezeni and Vadu Lat.
Giurgiu is the capital's back garden for anglers. Along the Argeș and Sabar valleys, towards Bolintin-Vale, Malu Spart and Ogrezeni, managed fisheries sit one after another, many of them forty minutes from the city. Comana, inside the nature park, is reedy water holding crucian carp, carp and pike. The Danube at Giurgiu and Slobozia is another calibre again: catfish, asp and wild carp, from the bank and from a boat.
Being this close to the capital, summer weekends get busy and booking a swim ahead matters. May to October is the season, with nights out through the hottest weeks.
