About fishing in Satu Mare
Călinești-Oaș is the largest stillwater in Satu Mare county, and out on the plain between Carei, Tășnad and Satu Mare the carp fisheries run one after another to the western border.
Călinești-Oaș holds carp, crucian carp and predators, long banked and set in hill country. The Someș, cutting across the plain towards the border, is a wide, slow river with catfish, chub and barbel in its deeper runs. The Tur, smaller and cleaner, is pleasant light tackle water, and the lowland fisheries are easy to reach and quick to open in spring.
The west warms first, so April is already a useful month here. In summer the shallow plain water heats hard, and nights and early mornings give the best of it.
