Fishing lakes in Hunedoara, Romania

The most sought after water in Hunedoara is Cinciș, the wooded reservoir beside the town, and beyond it the county means the cold rivers of the Retezat, plus the Mureș and the Strei down in the valleys.

Cinciș holds carp, crucian carp and predators, minutes from Hunedoara. The Mureș between Simeria, Deva and Ilia is a wide, slow river with chub, nase and barbel. The Strei and its tributaries above Hațeg turn quickly into trout water, and higher again at Gura Apelor and on the Râul Mare the rivers are cold with a short season. Around Deva and Orăștie sit the quick access managed fisheries.

May to October is the window on Cinciș and on the Mureș. Mountain water follows the snowmelt and the rain, and in summer, as flow drops, it runs gin clear and demands a finer approach.
