About fishing in Covasna
Covasna holds quiet, small to medium water: the Olt and the Râul Negru, the fisheries around Târgu Secuiesc and Sfântu Gheorghe, and the lakes at Reci.
The Olt above Sfântu Gheorghe gives chub and barbel, and carp and crucian carp on the slower stretches. The Reci lakes, grown out of old gravel workings, are the county's best known stillwater. The managed fisheries around the two towns are small and well kept, the kind of place that suits a family day, and towards the Nemira range and Întorsura Buzăului trout streams appear.
Altitude and long winters shorten the season, which runs best from May to September. After snowmelt in spring the water is high and coloured, so it is worth letting it settle.
