About fishing in Tulcea
Fishing in Tulcea county means the Danube Delta and the Razim-Sinoe complex, the Chilia, Sulina and Sfântu Gheorghe branches, and the Babadag, Somova and Crapina lakes.
The Delta is Romania's best known fishing destination and it works differently from everywhere else: you arrive by boat, you stay a few days, and you fish the channels, the lagoons and the backwaters. Pike, zander, perch, catfish and carp are the main targets, with asp on the faster branches. Razim-Sinoe is a vast sheet of water, windy and fished on a big water scale. Towards Măcin and Babadag the lakes are easier to reach by car.
Late spring and autumn are the best seasons, with fewer mosquitoes and active fish. The Delta needs a recreational fishing permit plus an access permit for the Biosphere Reserve, and some zones are strictly protected.
