Lacul Pietrei

Lacul Pietrei is a private fishery in the Murighiol commune, Tulcea county, approximately 35 km from the municipality of Tulcea, near the road from Tulcea to Murighiol. The water comes from underground springs and has no connection to the Danube or the Sfântu Gheorghe branch, but the lake preserves the air of the Delta: the open water mirror, of approximately 37 hectares, is surrounded by reeds, willows and water lilies, in a 88-hectare facility. The fish grows naturally, without feeding, from the rich food of the lake. In the lake live carp, crucian carp, zander, pike, catfish, perch, rudd and roach. On the bank there are 9 swims arranged, each with its own small house, and the fishing spots have wooden tables and reed shades; the car is left right at the swim. You can camp with a tent or a caravan. On the east bank, near the owner's buildings, are the boats, a rustic terrace of up to 50 seats, the summer kitchen and the gastronomic point, where a traditional fisherman's menu is served, with fisherman's borscht and fried fish. 40 m from the bank is the Casa de la Lacul Pietrei guesthouse. Boat trips among the water lilies and bird watching complete a day at the lake, and nearby you can visit the Roman-Byzantine fortress Halmyris and the Sărăturile de la Plopu bird reserve.
