About fishing in Alba
Alba county fishes as two completely different places: the managed carp lakes of the Mureș corridor, and the cold water of the Apuseni and Șureanu mountains, where the Sebeș feeds the Oașa and Tău reservoirs.
The Mureș corridor, from Aiud and Teiuș down to Alba Iulia, Sebeș and Ocna Mureș, is the easy half. Carp and crucian carp waters sit minutes off the main road, which suits a short session or a weekend under canvas. Head into the Apuseni, onto the Arieș and its tributaries, and it becomes small, clear water, trout and chub.
Summer and early autumn are the best of the carp season on the floodplain. Mountain water fishes best in late spring and early autumn, once the snowmelt has run through. The high lakes in the Șureanu stay cold well into July, so pack another layer even in midsummer.
