Iazul Botez

Iazul Botez is a sport fishing pond opened in 2022 on the edge of the village of Mihail Kogălniceanu, in the commune of Țigănăși, about 30 minutes from Iași. The water fills a valley nearly half a kilometer long, between fields, with the dam and the access road at the southern end and a wooded hill above the eastern bank. The depth ranges from 1.2 to 2.5 m, and the bottom is hard. The dominant species is carp, along with grass carp, crucian carp, bighead carp and silver carp; pike, zander and catfish also live in the pond. The density is about 1.8 tons of fish per hectare, the fish grow on natural food, and the carp reach up to 14 kg. On the banks there are 37 numbered pegs, some with a wooden pontoon, others with a wooden shelter on the bank. The car reaches the peg for unloading equipment, then remains in the parking lot. Grilling is done only in specially arranged places, and the pond is video monitored day and night.
