Hanul Pescarilor Garofița

Hanul Pescarilor Garofița is a fishing pond in Sâncraiu de Mureș, 3 km from Târgu Mureș, right next to the Mureș river. The entrance is on Mureșului street, immediately on the left after the intersection of Barajului street with the main road, towards Nazna. The facility has two lakes linked by a footbridge, with a total area of 1.8 ha and a width of up to 80 m, separated from the Mureș by a grass covered dam. The bottom is hard, with gravel and, in places, a thin layer of silt. Carp dominates, with a density above average, of about 1.5 tonnes per hectare, and with most fish between 3 and 4 kg. The pond's record is a common carp of 15 kg, caught in August 2019. Amur and crucian carp are rarer. Fishing is done from the west bank of both lakes, from 30 stands of 10 m each; the dam on the opposite bank is at 25 to 80 m, on average 55 m. The car reaches the stand for unloading equipment, then stays in the parking next to the administration building. On the bank there is a toilet and power outlet access, and the inn's restaurant, with terrace and fish dishes, is next to the small lake. Regular competitions are held on the pond for feeder and float.
