Lacul Orlat
Orlat Lake, also called Lacul Orlat, is a former gravel pit near the village of Orlat, in Sibiu county, about 18 km from Sibiu, between the Cibin river and the surrounding lakes. It has almost 10 hectares of water, with three small islands and a strip of land in the middle, depths between 0.5 and 4 meters, mostly around 2 meters, and the mountains in the distance. The lake is dedicated to carp: in April 2023 it was stocked with over 750 carp, with an average of 13 kg, and stockings have continued since then. The lake record is a 37.5 kg carp, caught in September 2025, and carp over 20 kg come out every season. Six grass carp also live in the lake, the largest over 36 kg, and a single sturgeon, of 36 kg. On the bank there are eight pontoons, each with its own water lane and a small house with a terrace: five on the north-west bank, the first of them at the entrance, one on the short north-east bank and two on the south-east bank, with the lanes delimited by buoys. At the entrance are the administration and the parking lot, and on the bank two sanitary groups with toilet and shower. A road runs around the lake, and the pontoons have electricity, Wi-Fi and video surveillance.
