Green Paradise

Green Paradise is a fishing complex located in the village of Mehedința, Podenii Noi commune, in the sub‑Carpathian area of Prahova, 25 km from Ploiești and 111 km from Bucharest. On the site of a former irrigation basin, cleaned and desilted since 2010, three ponds have formed; here is Green Paradise 1, Balta Mare, about 6 hectares. Balta Mare has channels, thresholds, an island, reeds and submerged structures, and the bottom is mostly gravel. The water comes from ten own springs and two springs outside the pond and is slightly alkaline. The pond is populated 90% with peaceful fish and 10% with predator: in 2022, 6 tonnes of carp of 4 to 6 kg and 600 carp between 7 and 30 kg were introduced, and the pond record is a carp of 29.8 kg. Alongside carp live amur, roach, scoicar, buffalo carp, catfish, sturgeon, pike, zander, perch, crucian carp, rudd, roșioară and tench. The 21 stands are on the long south‑east bank (1 to 15), at the north end (16 to 19) and on the island at the south‑west end (Island 1 and Island 2). Each has its own wooden cabin, with electricity, air‑heater, a bed and a drawer‑type bed, plus a grill place, trash bin and a reception mattress of bucket type. On the pond there are three toilets and lighting, the car stays in the parking next to the reception, and the pond has a guard and video cameras. Next to the reception are the bait and lure shop, five cabins with private bathroom, air conditioning and TV, the tavern (open Friday to Sunday; during the week, breakfast and fast food are served directly at the pond), a playground and a mini‑zoo. The complex also includes Green Paradise 2, the feeder pond, and Green Paradise 3, the rod pond for children and beginners.
