Lacul Valcroft

Lacul Valcroft is a sport fishing lake in Timișoara, in the Ronaț-Mehala area, about 2 km from the city center: from Farmexpert follow the Valcroft signs for another 1.5 km. It has about 2 hectares of water surface, in the shape of a triangle, with an island in the middle. After dredging, sloping and bank consolidation works, the general depth is 2.2 m, and a wintering area of 5000 sqm reaches 3.7 m. Every spring, the lake is stocked with about 3000 kg of carp and grass carp for consumption, from 1 to 3 kg each. The carp and grass carp from the 2015 and 2016 stockings had reached up to 18 kg by the autumn of 2018. Crucian carp, bream, tench, zander and catfish also live in the lake. The administration keeps track of the fish entering and leaving, so that the lake is not overpopulated. On the three banks there are 45 numbered pontoons, each with a landing mat and disinfectant spray. In the south-east corner, on the bank, are the bar, the restaurant, the covered terrace with 200 seats, with the barbecue area, and the shop for bait, lures and accessories. Cars are parked on the edge of the gravel road and in the complex's parking lot. The complex is video monitored and hosts fishing competitions and private events.
